Will coloring your hair ruin it?

I usually just get highlights, but this time I've gotten an all over color. My husband swears up and down I will ruin my hair %26amp; dry it out if I continue to color it. It grows so fast, I don't see how new hair wouldn't be healthy and as long as I wait 4-6 weeks in between. What do you think?

if you just get root touch-ups it should be fine,but if you color all of your hair instead, what your husband said could happen,it can also break your hair,just try to stick with one color,if not,they just do rinses.its not as bad as dying it,there are way more chemicals involved.

These things are specifically designed for your hair and as long as you dont over use them and leave and appropriate time gap between each colouring then your hair should be fine.

As long as you trim your hair and condition it, you're hair will be fine. The only way it will become significantly damaged is by bleaching it repeativly. I color my hair every 4 weeks and use heat on my hair everyday, but my hair is still healthy and i've been doing it over 4 years.

If you keep on coloring your whole hair eventually it might dry up and start breaking. But if you just touch up your roots you shouldn't have any problems

It will dry it, but if you get a good repairing/moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair, it will stay healthy. But if you don't, it might not grow as fast. =)

Yeah coloring your hair so many times will, I went through beauty college and trust me. My hair was like cotton and I had to cut it really short, if you like to do new stuff then try not so drastic things to your hair, make small changes. If you do go drastic the stick with that color but do different changes like highlight or lowlight(going darker). your ends will start to look really bad so keep them trimmed and use a good conditioner.

Yes, color can damage hair over time, but not ruin it. It also matters what kind of color. Blonde (or bleach) will definitely ruin hair without breaks in between coloring. Been there, done that.

As long as you keep your hair moisturized with proper conditioner and get regular hair trims, you shouldn't have a problem.

By the way, the oilier your hair originally is, the better the color will be, why? Color tends to help dry the hair out so oilier hair will keep the shine rather than already having dryer, more brittle hair.

If you properly take care of your hair you won't have any problems. When you get highlights it will dry your hair out so you will need a moisturizing or hydrating shampoo and conditioner. If you use an all over color try to use a shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair to preserve your color longer. Try to keep the heat out of your hair but if you do use a heat protector before using heat.

if the hairdresser does it then no because when you do it yourself the dye gets on your scalp and burns it when the hairdresser does it she\he does not get it on your scalp because they are trained not to
