Coloring your hair while pregnant?

I am just asking on here until Monday morning cause my doctors office isnt open on the weekends, my hair is kind of a light brown dirty blonde color and I just lightened it a tad bit, well a few months ago and its really starting to show through I'm really sick of having to color it and stuff but I heard that color stripping thing they can do at salons might not be so good to do while pregnant, so I am just wondering if I can do it or not thanks I am 11 weeks pregnant :)

I asked my doctor if it was safe to do during the first trimester and he said it was absolutely fine because very little of the chemical actually penetrates your scalp- just make sure after you color you don't sit in the bathroom inhaling the fumes- color and then walk around the house or something until it's time to rinse. Also, I have blond hair and the peroxide in blond dyes are a lot stronger than in brunette colors. Go for it- you and your baby will be fine and you'll feel better about yourself- which is what I think every pregnant woman needs!

Yes you can . Try to be in a big room or out side after the dye is in . This way u don't breath in to much fumes . Also the shade may be off a little bit do to hormone changes .

coloring your hair is not bad the dye doesnt even go through the scalp so their for it cant reach the baby or harm it now the smell may get to you but you can color your hair

ammonia free hair dye will do abserlutly no damage to the baby and u can get it in diy hair coloring kits or at the hairdressers

No, no and no! Why would you even think about taking chances with something like that???

You should wait until you are at least 13 weeks. So the babies organs are developed. Then you can go ahead and color it. I did with both pregnancies and they both came out just fine!

you can color your hair as long as its a well ventelated area...i actually have an appointment this afternoon in fact...i colored my hair while pregnant with both of my daughters and they are perfectally fine.

if you are lightening your hair you can not "strip' it to get back to your natural color. You would have to do a tint back or put lowlights in it. As long as the color is not touching your scalp that is the safest. I would recommend getting a foil instead of an all over color, this way the color is not touching your skin and you can still get the highlights you're wanting. you could even get highlights and lowlights (this is much less maitenence than an all over color b/c you can go longer in between without seeing a line of demarcation (as long as it's not majorly lighter than your natural color) Otherwise...yes you can color your hair but I would stay away from getting it all over your scalp. if you must do an all over color just stay about 1/4 of an inch away from your scalp, it will need to be redone sooner but at least you will have it done.

Sorry to disagree with all those who said the dye doesn't enter the body, but there have been several studies done on women before and after using hair dye and they showed that the chemicals in the dye DO enter the bloodstream.

What they don't know is whether these chemicals cross the placenta and if so, whether they can harm the baby. I regularly colour my hair but have decided to stop while I'm pregnant. I figure that it's hardly a matter of life or death and I'd rather not take even a slight risk with my baby for something so trivial as hair.

If my baby was born with a problem I'd always wonder if the hair dye was to blame - irrational as that may sound.
