Coloring my own hair?

I just colored my hair brown, now I want to highlight it. Can I do this right after or should I wait another day?

I really want to do it right after.

I would wait a day so that the color has a chance to set once that is done then I would have someone help you put in the highlights.

Look for a toll free number on the box. I have used this service before and it is excellent. They will have the best answers for you.

good luck!

I've done that, and my hair is fine. Go for it. I actually just finished doing that. I dyed it red, then put blood red streaks in it.

When I have tried doing this at home it did not work so well. Nothing seemed to work over the brown hair color. But I would at least suggest wait a bit cause it is hard on your hair.

I think you can do right after, when I went to get my highlights done they did the base first and washed it out and right after they did my highlights..so I think its safe.

You can do it the same day. Some people who never have highlighted there hair before have some lightening accidents .Good luck and dont rush it.I have done mine the same day.I have seen people in the shops do both in one service.

If you know what you're doing, you can do it with Bleach or with a product like Kalideocolor or Sunglitz, but Color won't lift Color-

if you do it and it comes out red or orange, reapply and leave it on 20 more minutes or so.

I would wait at least 2 weeks, though, so your hair isn;t fried.

You can go ahead and do your highlights now. Make sure the products and colors are compatable and test it on a strand of hair you cut from under the back first. Apply it to dry hair. If it doesn't show up light enough or takes too long, hit it with the hair dryer to make it work better but be careful or it will be too light. Start out very sparingly. You can always add more. It never hurts to call the numbers on the boxes. They will always take the cautious road..

It's fine. I just had mine colored professionally. I didn't even do highlights as she used a processer chemical from Sally's which you have to do only on the sections of hair to be highlighted and got a kick *** color we stopped without highlights.

You can most def. highlight it right away. If you think about it when most celebs or anyone else colors their hair they do highlight it RIGHT away. When my hairdresser colors mine, he color's it first and then puts in chuncky highlights (three different colors). Just make sure if you are doing it on your own that you have SOMEONE else helping you administer the highlights and do NOT get to close to your scalp as the color will spead and you'll end up with a "ring" of color in your hair. Leave about 1/4-1/8 inch of room between your hairstrand and your scalp. Also, make sure you condition your hair A LOT. Do not scimp on this as it'll make the color last longer. Use a nice shampoo for colored hair also.

If you really want to color it well color it and you will see if you liked it
