Because my hair doesn't! Washes out after about 3 or 4 washes...when it should last around 28 or more...I'm not really miffed...but does anyone else experience this?

Are you coloring it yourself or going to a salon? My hair color lasts (except grow out at roots of course), but I go to a salon to get it colored with permanent color. It could be the product you are using. If you go to a salon, you should definitely go back and have them redo the color and make sure you are using a permanent color. If it isn't permanent, it will fade over time.

Yeah, but it's probably that the company you're using is a bit of a rip off.

and that's been a pretty long time
so, yea, i guess it holds well

I got highlights done at a salon about 2 years ago. They screwed them up...real bad.
...They're still here now, but only at the tips because of my hair growing and getting trimmed.
